Responsibilities

As an Anaesthetic Nurse specialising in ophthalmology, you will:

  • Prepare and maintain anaesthetic equipment and supplies for ophthalmic procedures.
  • Provide expert support to anaesthetists during surgeries, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to any changes during procedures.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital policies and protocols.
  • Educate and support patients pre- and post-operatively, ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with AHPRA.
  • Proven experience as an anaesthetic nurse, with a strong background in ophthalmology.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a dynamic healthcare setting.

Day-to-Day

Your day will be filled with meaningful and impactful work, including:

  • Preparing patients for anaesthesia and ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Assisting anaesthetists during ophthalmic surgeries, from cataract extractions to complex procedures.
  • Monitoring patients’ recovery and providing post-operative care.
