Job Opportunity: Anaesthetic Nurse in Canberra Private Hospital
Position Overview
Are you a skilled and passionate anaesthetic nurse looking to advance your career in a supportive and professional environment? Canberra Private Hospital is seeking an experienced anaesthetic nurse to join our dynamic theatre department. This role offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, mixed-case environment, focusing on Orthopaedics, Eyes, and Urology, with additional exposure to Dental and Gynaecology procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert anaesthetic nursing care during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in compliance with strict infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical operations.
- Monitor patients’ conditions during anaesthesia and respond promptly to any changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with hospital policies and procedures.
- Support the theatre team in delivering high-quality care across a range of specialties, including Orthopaedics, Eyes, Urology, Dental, and Gynaecology.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated experience as an anaesthetic nurse, particularly in Orthopaedics, Eyes, and Urology.
- Additional experience in Dental and Gynaecology procedures is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and surgical protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for anaesthesia and assist the anaesthetist during procedures.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are ready and functioning before surgeries.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and provide immediate support during anaesthetic administration.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating theatre.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth transitions between procedures.
- Provide post-operative care and support as needed.
