Job Description

Paediatric OT | 4 Clients per Day | Reform Resilient (Thriving Kids Ready)

The "Clinic Mill" is over. It’s time for Clinical Substance.

I have partnered with a boutique Paediatric practice in Melbourne’s Inner North East that is leading the way in "Reform Resilient" healthcare. This isn't a team waiting to see what happens with the NDIS; they have already pivoted their infrastructure to align directly with the General and Targeted supports being commissioned under the Thriving Kids reforms.

They have a deep, foundational ethos of meeting genuine community needs rather than just hitting billable targets. If you are tired of the 6-to-8-client-a-day grind and want to return to high-level clinical practice, this is the role you've been waiting for.

The Model: 4 Participants per Day

We know that clinical excellence requires "white space." By capping the clinical load at 4 participants per day, this practice ensures you have the time to actually think, plan, and deliver the neuro-affirming, evidence-based care your clients deserve.

What your week actually looks like: Forget back-to-back 1:1 sessions in a windowless room. This model is built around Community Integration, meaning your caseload includes:

  • Targeted School Supports: Working directly with educators to facilitate successful transitions.

  • Peer Group Programs: Leading innovative social and developmental groups in the community.

  • Parenting Workshops: Building capacity in natural environments.

  • General Community Needs: Delivering Tier 2 interventions and educator training that meets the local area's specific needs.

  • Protected Clinical Reasoning: Significant time for documentation, complex applications, and MDT collaboration.

Why this is the "Safest" move for your career:

With the NDIS/Thriving transition toward Foundational Supports in schools and communities, the standard high-volume, clinic-based model is at risk. This practice has spent the last 12 months ensuring they are future-proofed.

  • Commissioning Ready: They are already delivering the specific support models the government is now prioritizing.

  • Community Ethos: A focus on clinical substance and meeting local needs over corporate KPIs.

  • Director-Led Mentorship: Work in a small, tight-knit team where the Director is a clinician first, providing genuine, high-level supervision.

About You:

We are looking for a clinician who wants to lead, not just "bill." You will be:

  • Neuro-Affirming: You take this framework seriously and it guides your clinical reasoning.

  • A Community Connector: You enjoy getting out of the clinic and working in schools, homes, and community spaces.

  • Evidence-Led: You value the "white space" to research and implement best-practice interventions.

  • Qualified: General AHPRA registration (Grade 2 or Senior levels encouraged to apply).

The Perks:

  • Sustainability: That 4-client cap is a firm standard to protect your well-being and clinical quality.

  • Flexibility: Genuine autonomy over your schedule to support your own work-life balance.

  • Professional Development: A generous PD budget and internal specialized mentorship (Feeding, Trauma-Informed Care, Motor Learning).

  • Competitive Package: Salary commensurate with experience, $80-120k
