Scrub Scout – Private Hospital in Canberra

Overview

MOR. Healthcare is seeking experienced and dedicated Scrub Scouts to join a reputable private hospital in Canberra. This is an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals who are ready to make an immediate impact in a dynamic and supportive environment. Responsibilities

As a Scrub Scout, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and maintaining the sterile field in the operating room.
  • Assisting surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures.
  • Ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and available.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory of surgical supplies.
  • Adhering to strict infection control and safety protocols.
  • Collaborating with the surgical team to provide high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proven experience as a Scrub Scout in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying surgical schedules.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day as a Scrub Scout will involve:

  • Preparing the operating room for scheduled surgeries, ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are ready.
  • Assisting the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
  • Maintaining a sterile environment throughout the surgery.
  • Conducting post-operative clean-up and preparing for the next procedure.
  • Collaborating with the broader healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
